As a collector of trombone recordings, I have come across many CDs that are not readily available in North America. This discography is a list of CDs by trombone soloists and ensembles from all over the world, and currently contains over 900 CDs. As this list will grow steadily, you may want to bookmark this page and refer to it periodically for updates. I have provided links to the recording companies with websites to help those who would like to obtain any of these CDs.
My interest in performing new music has led me to search for more trombone repertoire written by Canadian composers. Searches on the Canadian Music Centre database has proved fruitful, and the biographies of associate composers and their selected works has turned up even more pieces. The CMC was also kind enough to print a request for more information in their newsletter, and this has turned up still more. As a result, my list has grown larger than I had ever anticipated, proving that Canadian music is alive and well. I hope this list will provide a valuable resource to help other trombonists expand their repertoire.
I can't estimate the number of times I have been presented with a trombone part where the writing is decidedly non-idiomatic. It has inspired me to prepare some helpful suggestions for composers who may be interested in writing effectively for the trombone.

Check out the web-page for Atlantic Canada's new professional brass ensemble, featuring me and some of my friends from the Maritimes: Curtis Dietz (trumpet), Bob Nicholson (bass trombone/tuba) and Gina Patterson (horn). The Maritime Brass fulfills a dream of establishing a permanent brass ensemble in the region.
eklektikos is an ensemble dedicated to presenting contemporary chamber music. Our goal is to present a wide variety of music within a balanced program that the audience will find enjoyable as well as intellectually and aurally stimulating. Future goals of the group include performing and commissioning more music by Canadian composers.
Stories, comments, and opinions about anything and everything, not just the trombone. I started this in May 2006.
