PAST ACHIEVEMENTS

- Over the years P.E.I. athletes who are physically challenged have consistently ranked in the top five in provincial standings at various National sports events (Goalball, Lawnbowls, Track & Field). Their performance have traditionally exceeded those of their able bodied counterparts.

- We have been the catalyst in procuring a wheelchair stair lift at the Basilica Recreation Centre and a wheelchair pool side lift at the Delta Prince Edward.

- The PEIRSAPC has hosted numerous National Championships in sports such as wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby, goalball, and golf.

- This association is the longest standing organization of its kind in Canada.

- The PEIRSAPC was the organization responsible for the successful conduct of the P.E.I. portion of the historic Rick Hansen Tour (1986).

- PEIRSAPC athletes Contessa Scott (Goalball), Carol Schurman (Blind Athletics) and Pat Griffin (Wheelchair Basketball) have all been selected and served on Canadian National teams in International competitions. Scott (1994) and Griffin (1984) have won the most prestigious annual award in Island sport - the Lieutenant Governors Award.

- Islanders Contessa Scott (player) and Frank MacIntyre (coach) helped Canada to a Paralympic Gold Medal in Womens Goalball in Sydney, Australia in the year 2000
