Thank You to all who donated,
we reached our $6000. fundraising goal. This allowed us to present 3 seminars on Prince Edward Island in September '06, at no cost to participants. Thank you to all who attended. Press coverage of Dennis' seminars and any further updates will be be on our blog. I can be contacted at jypsy@isn.net
Our Plans now:
- We will be putting Dennis' Training video in each Police Station & RCMP Detachment as well as the Police Academy and Fire Fighter trainers.
- We will be putting an Autism Response wallet card in the hand of every law enforcement officer, every firefighter, every ambulance driver & paramedic and every Emergency Room as well as every autistic individual here.
- We are working with the autism community & law enforcement & first responders to design a picture communication card, similar to the one handed out at Dennis' seminars, and get one into every police and emergency response vehicle.
- We are working with the Fire Marshall's office and Police to design Emergency Alert window stickers to distribute to autistics and their families on PEI, to notify responders to an autistic occupant.
We raised enough money to make most, if not all, of this possible. We're committed to making it all happen.

Alex
Bain wants to be the first autistic to run across PEI from tip
to tip. Alex is an 18 year old Bluefield
High School graduate. A member of the PEI
RoadRunner Club, he was their 2004 Rookie
of the Year & 2005 Inspirational
Runner of the Year.
Alex is diagnosed
autistic. Alex's mom, "jypsy" (janet norman-bain), is diagnosed Asperger's
Syndrome, an Autism Spectrum Diagnosis, as is another of her four children.
jypsy will accompany Alex on her bike.
The Bain family lives
in Oyster
Bed Bridge, Prince Edward Island.
The Run will start
in North
Cape on July 2nd, and end in East
Point on July 15th, 2006. We'll take the Confederation
Trail from Tignish to Elmira including the 9K side trail from Charlottetown.

Debbaudt is an internationally recognized expert on law enforcement
and safety for autistic individuals and will present to PEI (and Maritime)
Law Enforcement, First Responders, and all interested autistics and parents,
caregivers, school personnel, and professionals working with autistics
.
Debbaudt’s presentations
inform officers,
first responders, medical and school
personnel, about how to identify and respond to an autistic person.
Dennis will also address on the many ways that parents
and caregivers can keep their child secure and safe both in the home
and in the community. These September 27th seminars will be free of charge
to all participants. Any extra money raised will be spent on Resource
Material for Islanders. |
