What we do
We provide you with your choice of a simple-to-setup JavaScript/html JShop Pro, or the sophisticated database-driven Extropia WebStore.

For fast response time with small stores (100 items or less), we recommend JShop Pro, which does its work on your customer's browser, rather than on your site's server, so little or no additional load will be put on the server. See JShop Pro in action at these sites.

When you have more items to sell, move up to the Perl-based Extropia Web Store, which stores is inventory in database files which can be updated through online screens, or using a PC-based application. See Web Store in use at these sites.

With either store, your customers will browse your site, select items, add them to a shopping cart, and purchase them online. When the sale is completed, it goes to an eBizCo order server, where the order information and customer's payment details are saved in a secure area. The customer is emailed a confirmation, and a copy of the order is emailed to you, the merchant The message sent to you contains the order, part of the credit card number, and a link to the eBizCo web site. Click on the link to launch your browser to view the rest of the credit card number, ensuring that the number is not available in any one place

How we do it
We believe we have the fastest and best order-processing systems on the Internet. Customers are frustrated by the slow speed of many e-stores. Our "JShop Pro" JavaScript-powered electronic store system does its processing on the customer's browser, greatly speeding up the purchase process, and eliminating the additional server load usually associated with an online store. There is nothing to install on your server, except for a few small HTML files. No CGI-BIN, C, or Perl will be added to your site (unless you host your own back-end FormHandler and order database).
We can easily modify your existing site to sell items electronically, and have added a back-end server to e-mail orders to you and store payment details in a secure format.

For larger stores, our Perl-based Extropia Web Store can be setup with a number of options to closely meet your needs. We have access to the complete source for both JShop Pro and Web store, and can make any modifications which may be required to meet your needs.

Form Processing:

Our FormHandler software makes it easy to add email reply forms to your site. Features include template-based reply confirmation screens, making setting up and changing your textual information a snap. We use this software with our JShop Pro demo store, on our information request form (below), and to enable online entry to the Dooly's Hockey Pool (pool entry is now closed, but the form is still functional, so feel free to try it out!). We can install FormHandler on your server, or transparently redirect your clients from your site to our server. FormHandler can capture completed form information such as Name and Email Address in a database for future use. Our Broadcaster software can take this information and use it for customized emailings. We also can customize scripts to allow your users to participate in discussion groups and other conferencing and collaboration software.

Interactive Online Forms:

We specialize in interactive forms using JavaScript editing, so that most edits are done right on the browser, minimizing communication with, and easing the load on your server. Our JShop Pro Demo Store uses JavaScript editing extensively on the Checkout form.

CD-Mastering and Replication:

Through our liason with Romifications in Ottawa and AmericDisc in Quebec, we can cost-effectively distribute your information via CD-ROM. We can convert your catalogue and other information for CD-publication using either Adobe Acrobat or HTML. For example, the Department of Veterans Affairs distributes over 75,000 pages of textual and graphical information using Acrobat with a full-text search index, at a cost of less than $4 per disk for 300 disks. Note that prices drop dramatically as quantity increases. Making that information available in paper form would cost hundreds of dollars per copy.

Custom programming:

We do programming in Perl, JavaScript, Java, PowerBuilder, Visual Basic, Delphi, C and C++, dBase and Clipper.

Our Product Suite
Speedy browser-based "JShop Pro" e-store:
- Processing is done at the customer's browser, using client-side JavaScript to eliminate additional load on servers. This is much faster than older "CGI-BIN" systems, as there is no waiting for the server to process a selection before moving on to the next item. As well, there is no need to get involved with complicated setup at the e-store's web site, as no cgi-bin access is needed. Our e-store is compatible with Netscape 2 and greater, Microsoft Internet Explorer 3 and greater and other JavaScript-capable browsers.. Minimal code changes are required to existing HTML-based catalogs. Just add our "Online Price Tags" to your web pages. We can make the changes for you, or provide instructions to let you do your own product updates.

Extropia Web Store

This store software works with any browser, and is very flexible to your needs. It takes longer to setup, but can easily accommodate any size catalogue.

Browser-based Search
JShop Pro customers can use the browser-based search to rapidly find the products they want to buy. This search is based on keywords entered into a search database stored in a standard HTML file, and doesn't require any special CGI-BIN access or coding. Since the JavaScript-enabled search happens on the customer's browser rather than on your server, there is no additional load on your server!

Host-based Search
Web Store features a sophisticated search-query system on the host computer.

Intelligent client-based checkout form
Once the items have been added to the shopping cart, the customer can proceed to the "checkout" option. Extensive error-checking is done to ensure that the order is valid before it is sent to the order-processing server. For example, mandatory fields are verified, and credit card numbers are checked for valid format, etc. to minimize the chance of incomplete orders being sent in.

Regular and Secure order-processing servers
Once checkout details are supplied, the customer can select either the Secure or the Regular checkout option.Our Regular checkout option offers fast response time, and provides an alternative for sites which cannot access a Secure server (some corporate sites have firewalls which are not setup to allow Secure server access). Additional security is achieved by splitting the credit card number into two portions, only one of which is stored on the server. Even if the server were compromised, no credit card numbers would be found!

Order-mailer and payment details lookup
Once the order is received by the Regular or Secure servers, a copy is emailed to the order desk at your company. For security reasons, the order will contain partial payment details. A link within the email message will launch your browser in secure mode, and take you to a password-protected area on the eBizCo server where you may view the rest of the credit card number. As well, a confirmation of receipt of order is emailed immediately to the customer, and a record of the order is saved for billing purposes.

Transaction-based billing:
When business warrants, we will be setting up a Secure Server, where we plan to bill our clients per transaction processed.

Derek MacEwen is the company president and lead programmer. He has been employed in the computer industry since 1980, and has installed and supported large on-line real-time financial systems with electronic data interchange, intranet sites, and other major systems for a federal government department. He has been involved with the Internet since the late 80's, and has been a pioneer in the use of electronic forms and electronic documents in the Federal Government. Prior to entering the computer field, he worked in retail sales and marketing, and in radio broadcasting and journalism. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Prince Edward Island, and a Computer Programming diploma from Holland College.
