- Confederation Centre Art
Gallery and Museum (Charlottetown)

The Confederation Centre of the
Arts houses the largest public art gallery in Eastern Canada.
Exhibitions feature contemporary and historical works by Canadian
artists with special emphasis on the work of Robert Harris (1949-1919),
Canada's foremost portrait artist. The Gallery also has on display
special exhibitions for children in our Young People's Gallery. The
year-round schedule includes temporary and permanent exhibitions.

- Farmers' Bank of Rustico (Rustico)

The Farmers' Bank Museum is a
National Historic Site which in 1862 was the first client - owned bank
in North America. The exhibition celebrates the bank , the work of
Father Georges-Antoine Belcourt between 1859 & 1869 and tells the
story of Acadian settlement in Rustico.
Farmer's Bank is also home to the Doucet House property.

- Victoria Seaport
Lighthouse Museum (Victoria)

The Victoria Seaport Lighthouse
Museum is located on Water Street and housed in the second oldest
lighthouse on PEI. Visit the "Keepers of the Light" exhibit which
traces the settlement of Victoria and its growth as a seaport. On
display are 1920's seaport navigational aids, including the kerosene
lamp which was tended daily by a lightkeeper. View the harbour from the
second floor or climb to the top to see the light.

- Lucy Maud Montgomery
Birthplace (New London)

This 1850's home, where the world
famous author of Anne of Green Gables, Lucy Maud Montgomery was born,
now houses a collection of memorabilia connected with her, including
her wedding dress and personal scrapbook. A sales desk features L. M.
Montgomery’s books, which can be inscribed as having been bought at her
birthplace.

- Orwell
Corner Historic Village (Orwell)

At the heart of Prince Edward
Island is its rural agricultural heritage. The special magic of Orwell
Corner Historic Village captures the mood, flavour and activity of a
small, rural crossroads community a century ago. Orwell Corner is a
part of the PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation.

Andrew MacPhail Homestead (Orwell)

The Macphail Homestead is situated
on a 140 acre property including the restored house, an ecological
forestry project, and nature trails. The museum tells the story of Sir
Andrew Macphail, author, social critic, doctor, soldier and professor.
Areas of the house have been sympathetically utilized as a licensed
restaurant and small conference/workshop space. Traditional menu, lunch
daily, dinner served several evenings a week.

- Beaconsfield
Historic House (Charlottetown)

Beaconsfied Historic House is one
of the Island's finest residential buildings. Built in 1877 for
shipbuilder James Peake Jr., and designed by William Critchlow Harris,
the house is open year round to the public and serves as the
headquarters for the Prince Edward Island Museum and Heritage
Foundation.

- Prince Edward Island
Regimental Museum (Charlottetown)

Established in 1989 and located in
the Queen Charlotte Armouries, the Prince Edward Island Regimental
Museum exhibits artifacts and photographs relating to the military
history of the militia on Prince Edward Island. Tours can be arranged,
as well as a slide show on the history of the PEI Regiment.

- Point Prim Lighthouse
(Point Prim)

This oldest of Prince Edward
Island's Lighthouses was designed and built in 1845 by Isaac Smith,
architecht of Privince House in Charlottetown. The 60 foot toweer is
the only round brick lighthouse in Canada. An arresting view of
Northumberland Strait can be seen from the polygonal lantern-house at
the top of the tower.

- Tryon Museum (Tryon)

The Tryon Museum is a colleciton of
historical informaiton and artifacts about the Tryon area. Of
special interest is the 10,600 year old Paleo-Indian spear point found
in Tryon. The story of Tryon continues with interpretations of the
early Acadian settlers, the later English arrivals and the industries
they started, and the origin of the place name. Also on display is a
collection of restored antique radios.

- Belfast
Historical Society, Church of Scotland (Belfast)

The Ancient Acadian-Scottish
Burial Ground was cleared of trees, marked by a longer fence, and a
monument was erected inscribed in French, Gaelic and English. The Belle
River Church of Scotland was moved to a site opposite the cemetery and
now houses exhibits on the histories of the Acadians and the Church.
This is an on-going project of the Society as much work remains to be
done in the Cemetery - such as Archaelogical Studies and
recommendations for upgrading.
The Society's office is located in the Croft house
Interpretative Centre behind the Church. You will find there a small
Gift Shop featuring Scottish items, Island books, etc., and a fine
exhibit on the Selkirk Settlers arrival in Belfast in 1803.

<>Wood Island
Lighthouse (Wood Islands)

This lighthouse is located at the
second largest entry point to Prince Edward Island and is the most
southern tip. After ascending 54 steps to the top tower, one can take
in a magnificent 360 degree view of a local working fishing port,
ferries crossing from P.E.I. - N.S., as well as a stretch of beautiful
red coastal line, bordering on Northumberland Strait. Built in 1876,
this red and white structure no longer plays such a major role in
aiding marine traffic or fishing boats around the harbour. Instead, it
now serves as a beacon to guide visitors to it's doors, where local
history abounds.

Hillsborough River Association
(Mount Stewart)

The 45 km Hillsborough River is the
27th river to be nominated to the Canadian Heritage Rivers System. It
is the first river in P.E.I. to be nominated. Its 12 km estuary is
included in the nomination, making the Hillsborough River unique to the
System. Extensive wetlands, heron and tern colonies, remnants of
Acadian dykes and historical shipyards are some of the outstanding
cultural and natural values of this river. Many famous Canadian
politicians have walked and lived along its shores. Today, the river
and its watershed are a focus for a wide range of recreational
activities. The River is also known for its thriving quahog and oyster
industry.

It is a genuine old-time dwelling
steeped in history and essentially untouched since the turn of the last
century. Contains vintage treasures such as a 1930's Hammond organ with
a Leslie speaker for music enthusiasts. This one-of-a-kind guest house
is perfect for folks who prefer their own special spot. The house
documents the history of the former occupants, and of the street where
it is situated.
