Community Legal Information Association of PEI offers the following programs and services. Please contact CLIA if you would like more information.
Lawyer Referral Service
If you think you might have a legal
problem, but aren't sure...if you need legal advice but
don't know where to look...if you need a lawyer, but
don't know one... The Lawyer Referral Service can help you.
Law Line
CLIA can be reached by telephone,
mail, or e-mail for answers to general legal questions,
and for referrals to other agencies and professionals.
But, it cannot provide legal advice, or take clients. The

CLIA Library
CLIA has a resource centre containing legal books and materials for the general public and the classroom. It also has a large selection of free pamphlets. The Centre is located in Room 158 on the first floor of the Sullivan Building (in the Provincial Buildings), Fitzroy Street entrance, Charlottetown. It is open week days during government office hours (Winter: 8:30am - 5pm, Summer 8am - 4pm).
Atlantic Crime Prevention Resource Centre
CLIA also houses this collection which contains books, reports, pamphlets, and videos about crime prevention, restorative justice, community safety and related issues. Materials in the library are also available through interlibrary loan at any public library in the Atlantic provinces.
Media Programs
CLIA prepares and presents educational
programs about the law on radio and television, and in
the newspapers.
Assistance to
the Community
The association acts as a resource for
groups who wish to inform and educate others about the
law. It helps them to conduct training programs,
workshops or conferences, to develop legal materials, and
to keep up with changes in the law.
Speakers' Bureau
The association provides speakers for
meetings, schools and events. It helps to organize law
courses in Community Schools. CLIA relies on the
volunteer efforts of the legal profession, courthouse and
government personnel, and knowledgeable lay people.
Workshops and
Special Projects
CLIA organizes legal workshops throughout PEI and plans special education projects.
