Earth Week

The Lake of Shining Waters IODE/Guardian Earth Day Activities Page was first published 22 April 1996. It included an IODE colouring contest, puzzles, poems and Sandbox promotional picture and story. The project was done again in 1997 with the addition of many new student activities and the chapter IODE colouring contest. The John Farrell, Great Earth Sing Along video was promoted as well as the school tour and matinee.


Earth Week April 1997 offered another opportunity to promote our concern for the environment through a children's songwriter and performer, John Farrell. The Great Earth Sing Along video by Mr. Farrell has won the Parents Choice Award. He has also won the Dove Seal for wholesome family entertainment. While on the Island Mr. Farrell did a school tour as well as a matinee performance. This was made possible through the generosity of Canada Trust Friends of the Environment Foundation. The chapter distributed copies of The Great Earth Sing Along to elementary schools all across P.E.I. during Earth Week 1997. This was made possible thanks to the generosity of The Shell Environmental Fund.
