Lawyer Referral Service
you think you might have a legal problem,
but aren't sure...
you need legal advice but don't know where to look...
you need a lawyer, but don't know one...
...
The Lawyer Referral Service can help you.
- The Lawyer Referral Service is available to anyone.
- It is designed to encourage you to seek legal advice early, before your problems become complicated and expensive.
- It takes the worry out of looking for a lawyer.
How It Works
You can call the Lawyer Referral Service at 1-800-240-9798 or (902)892-0853 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Explain briefly the type of problem you have. The service will give you the names of two lawyers. You arrange an appointment with one of the lawyers and tell him or her that the Lawyer Referral Service referred you. The lawyer will give you an interview of up to thirty minutes at a nominal charge of $10.00 plus P.S.T. and G.S.T. The lawyer will tell you whether he/she thinks you have a legal problem, what is involved, and how long it should take to solve the problem, and about how much it will cost.
Some lawyers are willing to communicate in languages other than English. Indicate your language preference to the operator when you call.
Community Legal Information Association of PEI and The Law Society of Prince Edward Island do not have a mechanism for testing the lawyer's special skills and do not make any representations as these skills. The Lawyer Referral Service is not legal aid. The telephone number for Legal Aid is in the telephone directory.
A project of Community Legal Information Association of PEI, Inc. in co-operation with The Law Society of Prince Edward
