Popular CBC radio host Stan Carew was forced to cancel an appearance in Summerside last November due to inclement weather. Carew fans will be pleased to know that a new show has been confirmed at the Harbourfront Theatre on October 26 at 3 pm.

Carew has been the host of Weekend Mornings, heard throughout the Maritimes on CBC Radio One, for ten years. The recently released Bureau of Broadcast Measurement ratings survey shows that at times on Saturday and Sunday Mornings half the radios that are on in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia are tuned to the CBC, something Carew is very proud of. “It’s really nice after all the time I’ve spent doing it that people seem to like whatever it is I do. I look forward to going in there at 5 o’clock in the morning because I know some folks are setting their alarms for six.”

Carew’s songwriting mirrors his radio show. He admits to not being able to adhere to a particular style. “The greatest thing about Weekend Mornings is that we can play anything…so we do. I think back to when I was a little kid. I always knew song lyrics by heart. By the time I started writing songs I’d already been working in radio for ten years. And in those days the radio played everything. Pop, country, rock and roll, folk, easy listening, big band music. I think that gave me a subconscious understanding of how a song is constructed.”
