    Quilt Show
    The Kindred Spirits Quilt Guild 9th Biennial Show and Sale Autumn in PEI will take place at the Jack Blanchard Family Centre (formerly Holy Redeemer Parish Hall), 3 Pond Street, Charlottetown from Oct 24 to 26. The Kindred Spirits Quilt Guild presents a display of contemporary and traditional quilts made by guild members over the past two years. The show will include national award-winning art quilts, a selection of contemporary landscape quilts and the workmanship of more traditional quilt makers. Many of the quilts and smaller items will be for sale. Buy a ticket on the king-sized raffle quilt “Stars Over An Island Autumn.” The show will include a Merchants’ Mall. Refreshments will be served. Help judge the Viewer’s Choice Winner. Viewing times Oct 24, 10 am-8 pm; Oct 25, 10 am­-6 pm; Oct 26, 12-4 pm.

    Quilt Guild Meeting
    The Kindred Spirits Quilt Guild will meet on Oct 15 in the Jack Blanchard Family Centre (formerly Holy Redeemer Hall), 3 Pond St., Charlottetown. The meeting will begin at 7 pm. New members are welcome (892-5684).

    Call for submissions
    Gallery @ The Guild programming committee is calling artists and curators to submit proposals for the upcoming 2009 programming season. Deadline for submissions is Nov 7, 2008. The Guild Gallery is looking for volunteers to help installing and striking exhibitions.

    At Confed Art Gallery
    Family Sunday is the 3rd Sun of the month. On Oct 19, 2-4 pm, explore the exhibition Razzle Dazzle, learn about abstraction and create your own sailing ship. For children ages 4 to 10, and their caregivers.
    ArtTalk on Oct 14 at 7 pm features Northern Europeans Olle Jonsson and Luisa Carbonelli. They will talk about the core principles of their take on the museum audiowalk with practical examples of their work on PEI. Jonsson and Carbonelli are based in Malmö, Sweden and Copenhagen, Denmark. Olle is a Swedish programmer, designer, and writer. Luisa is a Danish-Italian museology-smitten web project worker with a background in stage design and cultural studies.
    Confederation Centre Youth Arts Council (YAC) is an opportunity for youth 13 to 18 to gain leadership skills through the arts. YAC is student led and activities are dependent on the interests of the group. 628-6112, CCYouthArtsCouncil@gmail.com.
    Schurman Family Studio Saturday mornings offers workshops that explore the arts through drawing, painting and sculpture: smART take I Grades 1 to 3, Sat, 11 am to 12:30 pm; smART take II Grades 4 to 6, Sat, 1:00 to 3:00 pm. kinderART for children in kindergarten is Sat, 9:00 to 10:30 am.
    Art PD Days, in the Schurman Family Studio and Confederation Centre Art Gallery, gives kids an in-depth look at an exhibition with a gallery guide. They will work with a professional artist and create a masterpiece. Dates are Oct 3, 23, and 24, Feb 3, and May 1, 9 am-4 pm.
    Experimental Drawing is a 4 week-long course for adults (16+.) Tue and Thur, 7-9 pm, starting Oct 21
