| Ancient Ways, Catherine Dickson |
The husband and wife team of Catherine and Jim Dickson of Summerside are celebrating their first art exhibit this October, Moonlight Magick: Fire and Ice.
Wyatt Heritage Properties earlier this year put out a call to Island artists wishing to be part of a Thirty Days of Fame art series that will run through the fall and upcoming winter. Artists, new or established were offered the exhibit room of MacNaught History Centre and Archives to mount an exhibit. Each artist who responded will be given a month to display their works.
Jim and Catherine Dickson are both romantics at heart, but they approach their art very differently. Catherine is the fire, painting from the heart and soul of herself. Her art reflects her life experiences through creative swirl, color and playful techniques resulting in whimsical undisciplined creations.
Jim is the ice. Jim’s paintings and drawings attempt to capture persons and/or places fairly realistically. Naturally, his eyes, hands, and psyche filter his works so that they do not end up looking like photographs. Emotions are subtle and largely under the surface. This is Jim’s first exhibit and he is excited to have his works viewed by others.
Catherine and Jim say they have immense respect and admiration for each other’s creative processes and output. They hope that viewers will be in equally amused, entertained, and challenged by their works.
The MacNaught History Centre and Archives, 75 Spring Street is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 4:30 pm and Tuesday evening until 9 pm.
