How does a bioenergetic workshop begin?

Bioenergetic workshops usually begin with group exercise. Participants are led through a series of movements designed to increase self-awareness and begin to free chronic muscular tensions so that they can begin to experience their own natural energetic flow. The exercises will allow you to increase your range of emotional experience and self-expression. Laughter and tears are among the many expressions of feeling that are welcomed and supported.

Following the exercises, there is an opportunity to process the experience in the group. This is a chance to deepen your self-understanding and self-compassion in a safe and supportive atmosphere.

Bioenegetic Group Process

As you become more in touch with your body and your feelings, you may want to do some individual work to explore further the patterns of grounding, breathing and energetic flow that are uniquely yours. This is a time to find your own personal road-map to self-discovery and change. Since all of us share the deeply human longings to love and to be loved, group participants benefit hugely from the individual work of others, often finding their own personal issues and struggles mirrored in the other. The group sharing and processing that follows individual work focuses on the issues that arise for those who witness the work. This is often a time of deep learning and growth.

As each individual piece of work is carefully shaped to suit the particular needs of the client, the workshop itself is also shaped to respond to the needs of the group as a whole. Throughout the six-hour day there is a flexible alternating between group and individual work.
