Coalition of Youth Justice Committees
Alternative Measures
|
Volunteers with 29 different Youth Justice Committees are trained to assist young offenders to develop an Alternative Measures agreement, which can come about through victim offender mediation, victim offender conciliation, or through an agreement negotiated by the volunteer and the offender, with no input from the victim. |

The forum includes the offender, the victim and their family and support persons in discussing the impact of the crime on each and how to repair the harm done by the offending behaviour. NS RCMP are working with the Province and the Youth Alternative Societies in relation to the Restorative Justice Program for Nova Scotia. They are also working with local school boards to encourage the use of Community Justice Forums in schools. |
